The OLV Hospital welcomes you as a non-Belgian citizen and helps you with your medical problems.
Are you an EU-citizen?
Most member-states of the Europen Union have concluded an agreement enabling their citizons (when coverd by the social security system in their country of origin) to benefit also from the Belgian social security system (Riziv) when they require medical assitance during their stay in Belgium.
- Are you in need of urgent medical assistance while you are in Belgium? If you hold a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), we will help you in the OLV Hospital without requiring an advance payment.
- Do you come from abroad to the OLV Hospital for a planned treatment or procedure (e.g. because you opt to benefit from our special medical expertise in a certain area)? Please contact your health insurance in your country of origin, prior to your visit to the OLV Hospital, and ask them for a S2-document. If you can produce this S2-document at the OLV Hospital, no advance payment is required. Without a S2-document, you will be requested to make an advance payment prior to the treatment or procedure.
If you are not covered by the social security system in your member-state of origin, you cannot make use of the above-mentioned options. In such case, you should provide the OLV Hospital in due time with a Guarantee of Payment (GOP) from you health insurer.
